The People’s Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party made a statement regarding the allegations that an “assassination attempt” had been made against Sırrı Süreyya Önder, a member of the İmralı Delegation who passed away. 

 

The statement said, "On April 2, the parking attendant noticed a suspicious sound coming from the tires while Sırrı Süreyya Önder was using his vehicle and took the car to the service. Upon inspection, it was discovered that a sharp mechanism made of metal had been placed in the vehicle’s left rear tire, which could have caused it to burst. Önder brought this incident to the party committees, and necessary investigations and evaluations were made. The event and relevant evidence were submitted to the official authorities. Both our party and Mr Önder closely followed the issue. Due to the sensitivity of the investigation, the matter was not shared with the public. We have not yer been provided with a definitive result regarding the ongoing investigation.”
