AMED - The condition of ill prisoner Fırat Nebioğlu, who has a 92 per cent disability report and kidney failure, in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 1 is deteriorating day by day.

Fırat Nebioğlu, an ill prisoner with 92 per cent disability who is being held in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No 1, is reportedly getting worse. Nebioğlu, who has undergone dialysis 3 times a week for the last 3 years, has dropped to 49 kg as a result of excessive weight loss.

It is learned that Nebioğlu cannot be fed according to his condition, his meals are oily and salty and this does not support his treatment. His lawyers stated that Nebioğlu was not given his medication during public holidays, especially during festive holidays.

The medical board of Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital issued a report on Nebioğlu on 15 April and stated that Nebioğlu had "kidney failure". The report also stated that Nebioğlu had difficulty breathing through his nose and needed surgery. On 22 May, his lawyers applied to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for a stay of execution due to Nebioğlu's illness.

APPLICATIONS REMAINED INCONCLUSIVE

Nebioğlu, who was arrested in 2015 in Êlih (Batman), was sentenced to 14 years and 6 months in prison on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organisation" and "committing crimes on behalf of a terrorist organisation without being a member of a terrorist organisation". Nebioğlu became 92 per cent disabled due to a stroke he suffered in prison. Nebioğlu, who also suffers from kidney failure and health problems such as vision and hearing loss, has to undergo dialysis three times a week.

Batman Training and Research Hospital reported that Nebioğlu "cannot stay in prison" due to kidney failure. However, the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) issued a report on 14 March 2022 stating that Nebioğlu "can stay in prison". Nebioğlu's 7 applications for a kidney transplant were not responded positively.  The family's requests for release were continuously rejected. The family applied to the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) and the Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission, but no result was obtained from these applications either.
