DİYARBAKIR - Relatives of the prisoners, reacting to the exclusion of political prisoners in the law proposal on execution said: "Prison gates must be opened fairly."

Reaction to the exclusion of political prisoners in the law proposal on executiın continue. While the campaign of the prisoners' solidarity organisation MED TUHAD-FED, initiated with 64  institutions and organizations continue, the relatives of the prisoners called for the release of all political prisoners.

'WE ARE CONCERNED'

Nurcan Yalçın, sister of Adnan Yalçın who has been imprisoned for 24 years in Antep Type H Closed Prison, said her brother has colon cancer since 2015, as well as other chronic diseases. Stating that no treatment and routine checks have been made after the operation of her brother, Yalçın stressed that despite the fact that hundreds of seriously ill prisoners have been held in prisons for many years, the state has not taken any steps. Yalçın, expressing that like many other prisoner families, they are very concerned, said: "My brother told me that no measures were taken for the coronavirus and hygiene is still a big issue in prison. Yalçın said as the relatives of the prisoners they support the campaign of MED TUHAD-FED and called on to the public to support the campaign.

HOSTILITY AGAINST POLITICAL PRISONERS

Yalçın said: "Everyone knows that this regulation is not fair. All prisoners must be released in the face of such a disastrous outbreak. The government have once again showed their hostility towards political prisoners. Even a dictatorial regime like Iran released political prisoners, what is being done in Turkey is unjust and a disaster. At least all old and sick prisoners must have been released till now."

Meryem Soylu, mother of Mehmet Soylu from Afyon Type T Closed Prison said the prison conditions are not suitable to survive the virus. Mother Soylu who stated that the guards search the wards without gloves and masks, said the hygiene in prisons is very poor. Pointing out that her son had 3 heart attacks, said: "Sick prisoners can not defend themselves against this virus. There are 20-30 people in every ward. Therefore, the new law should include political prisoners too. A 70 year old prisoner, Mehmet Yeter who lost his life because of the virus, have been buried without the knowladge of his family. This is unacceptable. They won't notify us if our children lost their lives because of the coronavirus. We are calling on to the humans' rights defenders and all segments of society to raise their voice against this.

Soylu who called on for solidarity with the campaign of MED TUHAD-FED, drew attention to the importance of the campaign.
