NEWS CENTER – CHP mayors of Avcılar, Büyükçekmece, Gaziosmanpaşa, Cehyan and Seyhan who were arrested in Istanbul-based investigations were suspended from office.
Mayors of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), Beşiktaş Municipality and Büyükçekmece Municipality, who were arrested after being detained within the investigations launched against them due to "corruption" allegations, were suspended from office.
The Ministry of Interior suspended CHP Mayor of Avcılar Utku Caner Çaykara, Mayor of Büyükçekmece Hasan Akgün, Mayor of Gaziosmanpaşa Hakan Bahçetepe, Mayor of Ceyhan Kadir Aydar and Mayor of Seyhan Oya Tekin.
NUMBER INCREASED TO 11
With the dismissal of 5 more CHP mayors, the number of suspended CHP mayors increased to 11.
Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, Beykoz Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin and Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar were suspended following their arrests.
Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who were elected with the "Urban Consensus", were also suspended and trustees were appointed to replace them.
