ŞIRNEX- Şırnak Working Journalists' Association made a press statement on the threatened journalist Zeynep Durgut and said "We will not remain silent against this mentality".

 

The Board of Directors of Şırnak Working Journalists Association made a written press statement regarding journalsit Zeynep Durgut, who revealed the "prostitution gang" with her news report and was threatened by the Tatar family, who is a member of this organisation. 

 

The statement reads: "We do not accept that our colleague Zeynep Durgut, who uncovered the 'Prostitution Gang' in Şırnak, was threatened by a relative of the perpetrator in the case. This threat against a journalist fulfilling her professional activities is an attack not only on freedom of the press but also on the public's right to information. We will not remain silent in the face of this mentality. We stand by Zeynep and all our journalist colleagues."

 

The management of the association emphasised that solidarity will continue to end the pressure and threats against journalists.
